BOOK VERIFIED LIVE-EVENTS CREW.CREW SET THEIR RATE AND KEEP ALL OF IT.

On the day or up to 14 days ahead, anywhere in the UK. You pay the crew member's rate plus Gaffr's £25 fee per crew member.

How a booking goes, on two phones. In the Gaffr app, a client posts a shift: a stage tech at NEC Birmingham, call time 14:00, for 8 hours, paying at most £28 an hour. Gaffr says it's finding crew. In the Gaffr Live app, Sam, a verified crew member 6 km away, gets the offer: £192 for 8 hours at Sam's own rate of £24, with nothing taken by Gaffr. Sam taps Accept. The client sees Sam's booked, at £24 an hour plus Gaffr's £25 fee, and Sam sees You're booked.

On demand

KINDA LIKE UBER, FOR CREW.

How it works: booking crew

POST THE SHIFT. CREW NEARBY GET IT.
YOU PAY THEIR RATE.

For clients
  1. 01

    Post the job

Venue, call time, hours, role and the most you'll pay an hour. Add notes for crew if they need them. No account manager, no back-and-forth.

  2. 02

    We offer it out

Verified crew nearby who charge that or less get the offer: whoever's live for a job today, or taking scheduled work for one ahead. First to accept gets it. You see who's coming, their rate and their record.

  3. 03

    Pay the actual rate

Confirming puts a hold on your card. You're charged the crew member's rate for the hours booked, plus Gaffr's fee, and the rest of the hold is released. Your bank decides when the release shows.

  4. 04

    Rate fairly

Both sides rate after the shift, and neither sees the other's until both are in, or 14 days pass. No fake-positivity loops.

For crew
  1. 01

    Get verified

Right-to-work, photo ID, public liability, approved before your first offer. You only upload one again when it expires, or if you've been away from Gaffr for two years.

  2. 02

    Go live, or plan ahead

Go live when you're free today. Switch on scheduled work to get offers for the days ahead. We only ping you when there's a shift nearby. No spam, no calls between gigs.

  3. 03

    Accept or pass

Call time, hours, role, the venue's address and how far it is, before you say yes. Passing costs you nothing. First to accept gets the shift, then you get the client's notes, the site contact and the meeting point.

  4. 04

    Work it. Get paid.

Your rate, in full. Gaffr takes nothing from it. Once the client's been charged and the shift's booked end time has passed, agreed extra hours included, your pay goes to your Stripe account automatically. No invoice, no chasing. Rate each other once it's done.

Total
£225

You pay the crew member's fee plus £25 to Gaffr. Extra hours only happen if the crew member agrees.

Charged£225

Gaffr's fee sits on its own line. It's never a slice of the crew member's rate. An agency's cut scales with what you pay, and you rarely see it.

Cancel before a crew member accepts: free, and the hold's released. After that: more than 48 hours before the call, still free. Inside 48 hours, half the crew member's fee plus Gaffr's fee. Inside 24 hours, or once they're on the way, all of it plus Gaffr's fee. The crew member's share goes to them. No grace period inside 48 hours. Full terms here.

Built for the people who run the room.

Producers, venues, crew chiefs

If you book live-events crew through agencies and you're tired of the markup, the phone-tag, and the no-shows, this is for you.

Stage hands, AV techs, general crew

Your hourly rate, in full. Gaffr's fee is paid by the client and never comes out of yours.

Verified before they're live

Right-to-work, photo ID, public liability. Blind two-way ratings. Crew offered the shift see the venue's address; only the one who accepts gets the site contact. You see who's coming once it's booked.

What we stand for

THE RULES WE WORK BY.

VERIFIED CREW. NO AGENCY IN BETWEEN.

I'D RATHER BE A PIRATE
THAN JOIN THE NAVY

  1. 01

    Transparency

Visible rates. Visible reputations. Visible fees. If you can't say it out loud, it shouldn't be happening on Gaffr.

  2. 02

    Scale benefits everybody

Crew keep every penny of their rate. Clients see Gaffr's fee on its own line. Nobody's margin hides in the middle. That's how the model works, not a line in a pitch deck.

  3. 03

    Death before dishonour

We don't cut corners, hide margins, or protect bad actors. The platform holds everyone to the same standard. Including us.

EVERYONE WINS, EXCEPT THE ESTABLISHMENT

Who's behind it

BUILT BY CREW.POWERED BY TECH.

I started on site in 2007. Nineteen years later I'd seen the agency model from both sides, and I knew it was the same flawed model that was created 30 years ago. Gaffr is the fix.
